upgrade to RGMII mode on DM8148 not working [MAX24287]

Hi All.

We got a working DM8148 board with MAX24287 PHY module working. so far we have used MII mode and the device was working fine.
We have decided to upgrade to RGMII in order to achieve faster connection (fiber) and separate the interface into 2 different PHYs (2 slaves on 4 lanes each instead of 1 on 8 lanes as before). The device was replaced and has not been working since that, Kernel Panic in completely different locations each time, and for different reasons, but mostly unaligned access fault, each time in completely different locations though... What could be the cause of that? This kind of behavior usually has to do with DDR, but this doesn't seem the case...
Also I haven't managed to ping from u-boot.. There is a working 1000base-x converter connected to the device.. When i read the AN advertisement and response registers i can see correct values.. also the bits of 'Link Successful' are on, and RFAULT is off, and still ping and dhcp fails, and when i connect the device directly to the computer and put wireshark, i can not see even ARP coming from it.... Any ideas what could be the cause??

It seems that the device has successfully auto-negotiated, but it still cannot create a link.. The other end is a 1000base-x converter which was tested on industrial switch and it works fine.

Please Help :)
Much Appreciated.
