Can I use the ONET4291VA for a laser diode with anode of the laser connected to the housing which is shared with the cathode of the photo diode?

    Jack,

    The bias current in the ONET4291V can only be sourced, meaning the bias pin must be connected to the VCSEL anode. The TOSA is usually a common cathode configuration with the LD cathode connected to the photodiode anode and both connected to ground (TOSA case).

    You are describing a common anode configuration which requires the bias current to be sunk. The ONET4291VA cannot support this.
