DS90UB914 DEMO BOARD

Hello All,

I would like to ask a question regarding the DS90UB914 DEMO BOARD.

Up until recently i have been using the deserialiser board to access the raw signals from a LVDS connected video out signal. My intension was to use an oscilloscope to view said signals.

However all of a sudden i am not recieving any signals other than VYSNC. I should be seeing signals appearing on ROUT10 and ROUT11. Both these signals have stopped.

Is it possible to blow up these outputs, can they be damaged? I have checked the LVDS cable and the Video source and all check out fine. This leads me to believe its the DEMO BOARD at fault. The DIP switch settings have not changed either.

Can anyone shine some light on what might have happened here?

In any case if i have blown something up on the board i would like to buy a replacement. Since i last bought my demo board it looks like the board has had several revisions. My board is a DS90UB914 DEMO BRD SV600905 REV.A. The ones available to purchase are REV2 and look different in terms of dip switches and settings. Are these compatible with my current board?

Many thanks

Andy

  • Hi Andy,

Is your DS90UB914 still locked to a paired DS90UB913?  Does the PCLK frequency output on the 914 board match the input to the DS90UB913?  In order to view signals on Rout10 and Rout11 you will need to be in either 12bit-low frequency or 12bit high frequency mode.

    Regards,

    Mike

  • Hi Mike,

Thank you for your reply. I have the dip switches set to low frequency mode so i should see something on ROUT10 and ROUT11. Do you know if the signals are buffered (protected) against short circuits? Its very difficult to make out the circuit diagram in the manual, almost impossivble to read. There are not many chips on the board so i am assuming its the BGA chip and maybe something wrong with the IO side.

Is there anything else i can check to see if the board is damaged?

    Any help appreciated.

  • Hi Andy,

You wont see any outputs if the 914 is not locked to a paired DS90UB913.  The 914 will assert the LOCK pin high causing the lock LED at the bottom of the board to light when it is locked. Would you mind posting pictures of your serializer board and deserializer board so that I can check your setup?

    Regards,

    Mike
