Can the DS90UB927 / DS90UB928 run in single ended mode?

I have an application that the DS90UB927 / DS90UB928 chipset is perfect for, except that I really need to use coax. I see a similar circuit with the DS90UB913 / DS90UB914 and they show how to use coax. Is there some reason that the DS90UB927 / DS90UB928 wouldn't work with coax using a similar approach?

Hi Dave,

The original 913/914 does not support coax - the 913A/914A were later introduced to include this feature. The 927/928 do not support coax - 913A/914A are the only FPD-Link III parts that we have which support coax currently.

Thanks for the fast reply even though I am so disappointed. :-)

Just out of curiosity, what is the difference between the A parts and the original parts that allows them to run with coax? Are there any other app notes, parts, or suggestions that would get me to a 28 bit serializer/deserializer over coax instead of twisted pair?

The levels of the driver / receiver have to be adjusted for single ended (coax) transmission to work properly.

I don't know of a way to get 28-bit data over coax, unfortunately. Sorry!
