[ DS90UB925 & UB928 ] GPIO Configuration

Hi,

Can you help me to understand the GPIO configuratoin on the combination of UB925 and UB928?

Since customer use 24bit data, thus GPIO[0:3] ports of UB925 can not be used  as drawing left-hand side. Then both forward channel and back channel mode cannot be configured.

However in DS90UB928 side, there are still two dedicated GPIO pins (GPIO[0:1]) and two shared pins (GPIO[2:3]). Is it possible to use these GPIO[0:3] pins as same as GPIO_REG[5:8]?

From table 4 in the datasheet of DS90UB928, it seems that, even in the combination of UB925 and UB928 with 24bit, GPIO[0:3] and GPIO_REG[5:8] of DS90UB928 can be used by accessing registers. Correct?

Customer is concerned that their development may require more than 4 GPIO ports at deserializer side. If the combination of DS90UB925 and DS90UB928 reduce the GPIO ports, they can not use.

Thanks,
Ken
