DS90UB913A-Q1 / GPO direction, external oscillator frequency

Hello,

I have questions about GPO of DS90UB913A-Q1.

(1) GPO Direction bits of Control Registers
In the datasheet P.29, GPO0~3 direction can be configured input or output.
However I think that these GPOs can not be configured to input or output.
Could you please let me know the meaning of GPO direction bits?

(3)GPO2 output freaquency at the External Oscillator Mode
Please see the attached file.
6675.20140902_GPO DS90UB913.pdf

If I use DS90UB913A as external oscillator mode 10bit mode, GPO2 output clock is double of GPO3 input clock.
(i.e, If GPO3 input is 48MHz,  GPO2 output is 96MHz)
Is my understanding correct?

I would like to confirm this due to there is "÷2" in the figure 26 of datasheet P.42.

  • 1)   You are correct - the datasheet should not be showing the direction bits for the GPO pins as they have no effect - please ignore them.

    3)  In External Oscillator mode, you provide an external clock to GP03  If you provide a reference flock of 48MHz, then the DS90UB913A will provide an output on the GPO2 pin of 24MHz, which can be used as the reference clock for the camera. (in 10 bit mode).   The image sensor will take this reference clock and multiply it internally to generate it's own pixel clock which is then provided to the DS90UB913A as PCLK - PCLK in this mode is used to latch the data into the part, but the original external oscillator is used as the reference for the serializer.

  • Hello Mark san,

    Thank you for the reply.
    I understood.
