Best solution for a 4:1 HD-SDI mux

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DS25CP104A, LMH0376, LMH0302

Hello

I need to develop a 4x1 HD-SDI switcher. My device will connect to 4 cameras which outputs the video in HD-SDI over one RG59 coaxial cable. I need to switch the video and output it to one BNC conector, in order to connect to a monitor.

I would like to know what should I use to develop such circuit?

Thank you in advance for any help

With best regards

Christian Schultz

  • Hi Christian,

We have a 4x4 LVDS Crosspoint DS25CP104A, but it is designed for 100-ohm differential pair.

  • Another option would be to use the LMH0376 reclocker which has a 4:1 mux on the front end...

Connect four cable equalizers to the four inputs, and a cable driver to the LMH0376 output.

  • Thank you for your reply, Mark.

I was looking for some cable drivers, like LMH0302, but the application example always shows two coaxial connectors at the output. It looks like to me that the output is balanced, and I need to unbalance it in order to send the signal to a SDI monitor. So, I would need a balun to interface the LMH0302 output to a BNC conector? Do you have any information about such balun circuit, if it is really needed?

  • Greetings,

You can terminate one output of the LMH0302 via AC Coupling Cap and 75 Ohm to Ground and use the other output. So i don't think there is a need for a balun here. Please note example schematic below. As you can see, TXOUT+ is used while we are terminating the 2nd output with AC coupling Cap and 75 Ohm to ground.
