CLC014 Adaptive Cable Equalizer replacement

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMH0034, DS15EA101

I am in need of an adaptive serial cable equalizer like the CLC014 that can oparate with a 100Mbps data rate. Unfortunately the CLC014 is now obsolete and there is no direct replacement. The LMH0034 would be a possible replacement but the specified minimum data rate is only 125Mbps (typical).

Are there any conditions under which the LMH0034 can be reliably operated down to 100Mbps?

Can you recommend a differential equalizer compatible with PECL and 100Mbps data rate?

  • Hi Francois,

Thanks for yoru post and sorry for the delay. We will respond in the next few days as we get caught up.

  • Greetings,

LMH0034 would probably work at 100Mbps however the part has not been characterized at this rate. This is why we do not guarantee this in data sheet. Majority of the SDI equalizers are rated for minimum 125Mbps because this is needed for MADI protocol.

Also, please take a look at DS15EA101 since this device supports 100 ohm differential and needs AC coupling. The device has high impedance input and perhaps you can bias it such to interface to your interface.

  • Hello Nasser,

thanks for the reply. The DS15EA101 is effectively a relevant part but it has an even higher minimum data rate specification. I am looking to equalize a 100 ohms twisted pair cable with a data rate of 100 Mbps. Could you describe the expected performance deterioration of the LMH0034 part when operated at 100Mbps?

    Francois

  • Hi Francios,

LMH0034 has not been characterized at 100Mbps so we cannot guarantee performance at this rate.

  • Hi,

I'm in the process of communicating digital data at 10MBPS using manchester coding.so my signals range from 5MHz to around 10MHz. I would like to equalize cable length of 400 meters of coaxial cable. Can you please suggest suitable parts for my eualization. Can any of the devices listed here has he capability to equalize around 5MHz to 80Mhz rangee.

    regards,

    eldho

  • Hi Eldho.

The device has not been characterized at this data rate so we cannot guarantee operation at this rate. Having said this, at this data rate and the loss characteristics of your cable, i am wondering if you would need any equalizer. All you may need is just 75 to 50 ohm adapter and perhaps your receiver may have enough sensitivity.
