66AK2H14 10G XFI Interface to 10G Base- KX4 interface converter for Backplane application.

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DS100DF410, DS125BR820, DS125BR111, TLK10232, 66AK2H14

Hi,
We need to use 66AK2H14 - 10G interface on VPX backplane. To support this we need XAUI (10GBASE-KX4) interface.

Where as 66AK2H14 supports XFI interface.  We plan to use DS100DF410 (10G Retimer) for converting XFI to  SFP+ interface. Then  TLK10232  10GBASE-KR  will be used for SFP+ Interface . TLK10232 XAUI interface will be used for 10GBASE-KX4 on backplane.

Kindly refer attached block diagram. We like to know whether this interface can be used.

  • Hi Asarudeen,

    Do you plan to use the link training as per the KR spec? The DS100DF410 will not support KR link training.

    If link training support is required, please consider using the DS125BR820 or the DS125BR111.

  • Hi Asarudeen,

    TLK10232 can support XFI and SFI .  We try not to say it is fully compliant, though, just because we never did a full characterization based on the specs in those standards. We did characterize to 10GBASE-KR, though, which has similar physical layer requirements.

    Hence, you could use a single chip for this solution:

    66AK2H14 (XFI) <==>(XFI)[High Speed Side] TLK10232 (XAUI)[Low Speed Side]

    I hope this helps.

    Please let me know if you have any queries or concerns.

    Best Regards!
