TLK10002 refclk

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TLK10002

Dear Sirs,

About TLK10002 refclk input. Is it ok to apply single reference clk to both refclk0&1PN input ?

Many thanks !

  • Hi Terry,

TLK10002 can be used with shared or independent reference clock per channel.
Each channel (Channel A or Channel B) has an option of operating with a differential reference clock provided either on pins REFCLK0P/N or REFCLK1P/N. The choice is made either through MDIO or through REFCLKA_SEL and REFCLKB_SEL pins.
The reference clock frequencies for those two clock inputs can be different as long as they fall under the valid ranges shown in Table 7 (TLK10002 Datasheet). For each channel, the low speed side SERDES, high speed side SERDES and the associated part of the digital core operate from the same reference clock.

I hope this helps. Please let me know if you have more queries or concerns.

    Best Regards!

  • Hi Luis,

    Thanks your feedback !

    - Is refclk for CDR or anything ?  Is it a necessary input ?

    - Is it ok to direct connect channel A to channel B like below picture ?

    - What's the transmit side reference clock ? Does it come from refclk or direct take from serdes ?
