Urgent question on DS90LV031A 3V LVDS Diff Line Drivers

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DS90LV031A, DS90LV032A, DS91M047

The DS90LV031A 3V LVDS Diff Line Driver is a quad line driver and traditionally one drives a LVDS receiver, such as DS90LV032A, with a dedicated line driver.  Question is: how many different receivers a single line driver can talk to?  Say if we connect 3-4 LVDS receivers to a single line driver on a DS90LV031A, by breaking the differential wires somewhere in the middle and connecting the 3-4 receivers to the driver, will we lose signal integrity completely? will this topology work?

  • Hi Richard,

The DS90LV031A is not designed to drive multiple output loads.  It will suffer a significant performance degradation under this type of application.  A better solution would be to use the DS91M047 and create a multi-drop network to tie the individual receivers to the M047 output.  There is a graphic showing this on the datasheet.
