LMH0376 single-input

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMH0376, LMH0303, LMH0346

Hi everyone,

I am new in this forum, and maybe what I am asking is obvious. So firstly my apologizes.

I want to try to do a 4X1 HD-SDI switch. For this I have the LMH0376 4x1 reclocker. I know this device is intended to work with cable equalizer on the inputs and also a cable driver on output. The input is a 100ohm differential input. My application will use a really short coax cable, in the inputs and output. Could I use this 100ohm differential input as a 75ohm single-end input? and also the same with the output? I need a really small PCB, and as the cables length will be really short I though to avoid the Equalizers and drivers..

maybe is an stupid question, but I am not an electronic engineer and I will appreciate any answer or advice.

thanks in advance,

Jordi

  • Hi Jordi,

There is a circuit or a collection of passive components that converts from 75 ohm single ended to 100 Ohm differential input. This is called Min Loss Pad. This could work on the input side. However, on the output we need to be SMPTE compliant and this Min Loss Pad will not work. So suggestion is to use Min Loss Pad on the input and then use LMH0303 to drive the cable.

Please below note a min loss pad that has been used by LMH0346 device. Output of the LMH0346 can drive LMH0303 75 ohm cable driver.
