how to decode signal in IBIS-AMI RX Model

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DS125DF111

Hi, experts.

I use tci6638k2k DSP and DS125DF111 Retimer. tci6638 use R1 and R2 Platform PHYs of SEMTECH.

I use your model for 10G XFI Channel and PCS-R to XFI uses 64/66B encoding.

After I import this IBIS-AMI TX and set 64B66B encoding in ADS, I see EYE probe after IBIS-AMI RX.

Was this EYE diagram decoded in RX model automatically?

There is no option related to decoding in RX model.

I will wait for your reply.

Thank you.

  • Dongho,

The DS125DF111 retimer does not decode the input signal.  The encoding is only available from the system TX perspective to send a 64b/66b encoded bit sequence.  The DS125DF111 input uses a combination of Continuous Time Linear Equalization (CTLE) and Decision Feedback Equalization (DFE) to recover an open eye diagram and transmit the same data without altering any of the bits.  In other words, the DS125DF111 would not know if a data pattern was 64b66b encoded or 8b10b encoded.

  • Hi Lee,

    Thank you for your reply.

But my explanation was not clear. Actually "your model" in my question means TX and RX IBIS-AMI Model of tci6638k2k DSP.
I simulate using AMI TX Model and RX Model of tci6638k2k r1 platform.

Because I use PCS-R to XFI, I set 64/66B encoding in TX AMI Model.
But because EYE after RX AMI become quite worse when I set encoding, it's so hard to use lossy channel.
So I can't see EYE opening.

The EYE after RX AMI is signal decoded in RX AMI Model ??
Is it right that I use encoding setting in TX AMI Model ?

    Thank you for your reply.

  • Hi Dongho,

Since this question relates to the Keystone DSP device instead of the DS125DF111, I will move this post over to the Keystone Multicore Forum for help.

  • Thank you for your help.

For your reference, I use R1 Platform(SEMTECH SNOWBUSH IP) IBIS AMI Model for TCI6638K2K Serdes I/F.

Do you use encoding setting in TX AMI Model when you simulate?
