LMH0031 - SMPTE294 Output to an BT.1120 input?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMH0031, LMH0030

Team,

is there a way to interface LMH0031 using SMPT274 to a processor that has an BT.1120 interface?

The DM368 supports BT.1120 (YCrCb4:2:2 16 bit interface with embedded sync). It seems that the same pixel clock (74.25mhz) is used for SMPT294 and BT.1120 for different frame rate (24P, 25P, 30P).
Can it work in term of interfacing?

I guess that there further consideration to take into account (like the YCrCb coding, SMPTE ancilary data that might not handled in BT.1120).
What would be the main consideration?

  • Hi Anthony,

It is my understanding that BT.1120 runs at 74.25MHz clock rate with 20 bits parallel interface(you can ground bits 17 through 20). In this case LMH0030 and LMH0031 basically do parallel to serial/de-seria conversion only and report CRC errors. BT.1120 Video framing is done by DM368 device and LMH0031/30 are transparent and mainly do parallel to serial or serial to parallel conversion. We've had customers using DM368 with LMH0030 in this mode.
