LMH0071: supported DVB-ASI Packet mode and Burst mode

Hi,

Our customer is considering LMH0071 and they have a question.
Does LMH0071 support both DVB-ASI Packet mode and Burst mode?

Regards,
Nao

  • Hi Nao,
LMH0071 locks within 24ms. As long as this is acceptable then it can lock to burst or packet mode.

  • Hi, nasser

Thank you for your quick feedback. I have one more question.

What kind of data does LMH0071 output, if the input is follwoing conditions?

    1. SDI data is always Hi.
    2. SDI data is always Low.
    3. SDI data is incompatible 10b/8b code.
    4. SDI data is inverted DVB-ASI.

    Nao

  • Hi Nao,
LMH0071 is a deserializer. It extracts recovered clock and uses it to sample incoming data. Then this incoming data gets stripped and goes out to the 5 lvds pairs. If the data is constant high or constant low then it cannot recover the clock since there is no transition and therefor the device goes out of lock. On the other hand for cases 3 & 4 above, as long as this pattern comes at the right data rate - 270Mbps - device recovers the clock and outputs this data on the LVDS pairs.
