LMH0340: Can LMH0340 be used only 4bits LVDS interface?

Part Number: LMH0340
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMH0341, DS32EL0421, DS32EL0124

Hello,

Customer is considering LMH0340 to use LVDS interface with Sony FCB-EV7310 (Full-hd 1080p/60) Camera module which has only 4bits LVDS output.

If customer can use LMH0340 4bits LVDS interface to Sony Camera Module?

To use that, how can she treat unused LVDS pair?

Please let me get your answer ASAP.

Regards,

Nicky

  • Hi Nicky,
You could have either LVDS constant high or constant low. Please note LMH0340 stuffs constant high or low in the position of this bit.
Could you please send us a block diagram of this application?
Please take a look at SN65LVDS324 device. This supports Sony interface(note table 1).

This device goes from LVDS to LVCMOS which can be taken different interfaces.

  • Hi Nasser,

    Please let me clarify.
LMH0340 can be used only 4bits interface and unused pair(might be Tx4+ & Tx4-) needs to stuff constant high or low, am I right?

  • Hi Nicky,

Your understanding is correct. Please note, for this to work, there are two constrains:

1). There should be another LMH0341 on the other side so it can deserialize and provide these 5 bits LVDS and extract 4 LVDS signals.

2). LMH0340/341 lock to SDI data rates and i am not sure if Sony camera can generate this data rates. If indeed LMH0340/341 architecture/interface works for this application, perhaps a better choice would be to use DS32EL0421 and DS32EL0124. These are wideband serdes and could be better positioned for this application.
