DS90UB948-Q1: MODE_SEL1 (MODE, 0x37 CSI0 CSI1)

Part Number: DS90UB948-Q1

Hello,

What is "MODE" in Table 9. Configuration Select (MODE_SEL1)?

What are "CSI0" and "CSI1" in 0x37 MODE_SEL in Table 11?

Thanks.

  • Hello, this thread has been assigned to the right Apps person to look at and provide you a response.
  • Oguri-san,

I think the first question is for the 948, and the second question is for 940. Please correct me if I am mistaken.

"MODE" in Table 9 of the 948 datasheet is just showing the lower 2 bits of the 3 bit decode. The repeater column plus the MODE column show the full 3 bits. MODE corresponds to High-speed Back Channel and STP/Coax. It may be useful to use the 3 bit decode when reading back the MODE_SEL pin strap value in register 0x37.

"CSI0" and "CSI1" refer to the two CSI-2 output ports on the 940. There are two ports, each with 4 lanes plus clock. The pin names start with CSI0_ or CSI1_ and you can output to one or the other, or both (replicate).

    Thanks,
    Jason

  • Hello,

    Thanks.

So I think "MODE" in Table 9. only makes readers confused.

Please take a look at p.65 of DS90UB948 datasheet. it is most likely a typo. There must be some information to show here instead.

    Oguri

  • Yes, this is certainly a mistake. I think this happened because the 948 and 940 datasheet share the same XML file in our database, and this was not filtered properly. I'll log it as an issue to correct.

Instead of CSI0, it should be 'Non-Repeater' and instead of CSI1, it should be 'Repeater.' This matches the three bit decode from the MODE_SEL table.

For example, '000' is Non-repeater, 5Mbps back channel, and STP cable. '100' is Repeater, 5Mbps back channel, and STP cable.

    Thanks,
    Jason
