LMH1983: 0x20 Input Format on the datasheet P30

Part Number: LMH1983

Hi all

Would you mind if we ask LMH1983?

On the datasheet P30, there is description as follows;
All writes to this register (whether automatic or manual) will update all the LUT1 (Lookup Table 1), LUT2_2, and LUT2_3 output registers based on the value written here.
Writing to any of the LUT1, LUT2_2, or LUT2_3 output registers will set this field to 6’d62 (0x3E) indicating that custom changes have been made.

<Question1>
Do LUT2_2 and LUT2_3 indicate PLL2_Format and PLL3_Format(Address 0x07, 0x08)?

<Question2>
In case of EN_AFD=disable, after each datas write to address 0x07, 0x08 and 0x20 registers, although each datas are written exactly, do these registers show only 0x3e?
(In spite of 0x3e, is the data be reflected correctly?)

<Question3>
Is there any sequence between 0x05 register(EN_AFD setting), 0x07 register(PLL2_Format), 0x08 register(PLL3_Format) and 0x20 register(Input_Format)?
For example : 0x05 -> 0x20 -> 0x07 -> 0x08
If you have some recommendation, could you let us know?

Kind regards,

Hirotaka Matsumoto

  • Hi Hirotaka,

    <Question1>

    Do LUT2_2 and LUT2_3 indicate PLL2_Format and PLL3_Format(Address 0x07, 0x08)?

    Yes, LUT2_2 and LUT 2_3 indicate the PLL2_Format and PLL3_Format.

    <Question2>

    In case of EN_AFD=disable, after each datas write to address 0x07, 0x08 and 0x20 registers, although each datas are written exactly, do these registers show only 0x3e?

    No, registers 0x07, 0x08, and 0x20 will read back the data that was written.

    <Question3>

    Is there any sequence between 0x05 register(EN_AFD setting), 0x07 register(PLL2_Format), 0x08 register(PLL3_Format) and 0x20 register(Input_Format)? For example : 0x05 -> 0x20 -> 0x07 -> 0x08. If you have some recommendation, could you let us know?

    This sequence is fine. The registers can be sequenced in numerical order, but you cannot lock the PLLs to the input signals before the device has completed programming.

    I hope this helps. Kind regards,

    Lane Boyd
