DS90UB913A-Q1: Repeater mode support

Part Number: DS90UB913A-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CDCE813-Q1

Hi TI,

My customer want to use the device under a repeater mode(like 925/926).

The connection is as below ;

(Camera)DS90UB913A   --->    DS90UB914A    ==>    DS90UB913A   --->   DS90UB914A(Navi)

   Note ;              ---> : Cable comnection

                          ==> : parallel connection

Is it possible to use 913A/914A as repeater mode same with DS90UB925/926 ?

My concerns are:

 1. The output jitter of DS90UB914A is too huge to use PCLK of DS90UB913A.

 2.  Does the I2C connection work between Navi(host) and Camera ?

3. Are there jitter cleaner needed at the parallel connection ?

   How about the CDCE813-Q1 ?  Is it work as a jitter cleaner for PCLK of DS90UB913A ?

Please let me know the possibility of the repeater mode ?

  • Hello,
    Yes, this is possible for using the 913A-914A in repeater type operation. You are correct that the PCLK jitter will be cumulative, so it is recommended to use EXT CLK in mode for the 913A or clock cleaner such as CDCE813-Q1 for the PCLK from imager mode.
    The I2C will require direct connection between 914A and 913A parallel connection and the I2C aliasing addresses also must be assigned to the appropriate links.
