TLK6201EA: Can this device be driven with a single-ended signal?

Part Number: TLK6201EA

Hi,

We have this device designed into a system. Unfortunately one of our units began malfunctioning and the source of the problem was traced to a failing via in a transmission line structure. In essence, the _n leg of the differential pair being used to drive the TLK6201EA is misbehaving. I am investigating work-arounds to this problem among which is the possibility of driving the TLK6201EA with a single-ended signal, the still-working _p leg of the differential pair.

We have the ability to isolate the DIN- pin of the TLK6201EA and terminate it in some fashion. Likewise I can probably terminate the soon-to-be unused driver into 50 ohms. Is it feasible to drive the TLK6201 with a single-ended signal? How would you recommend the unused DIN- input be terminated? Any other provisos?

Thanks a lot,

John Morton
