SN65LVDS4: SN65LVDS4 - LVDS termination

Part Number: SN65LVDS4

Hello Team,

do you see any problem if between the FPGA and the SN65LVDS4 only one 100ohm resistor is used?

In particular the 100ohm resistor is closer to the SN65LVDS4 rather than the FPGA.

I would say that the trade off might be related to the trace length and if the SN65LVDS4  is really close to the FPGA it might be good.

...or am I wrong and one resistor is a no go?

Thanks,

SunSet

  • Hello SunSet,

I am a little confused by your question... I assume the FPGA output is LVDS and that is connected to SN65LVDS4 (which is an LVDS receiver)... If that is the case, then you need to use only one 100 ohm termination resistor and that resistor has to be placed as close as possible to the SN65LVDS4.

  • Thanks Yaser,

yes the FPGA has LVDS output. I was thinking that two terminations would have been needed.

But fine with one...this the only on the board.

    Thanks,
