DS90UB954-Q1EVM: Need profiles and scripts with DS90UB954/953-Q1 EVM

Part Number: DS90UB954-Q1EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DS90UB954-Q1, ALP, USB2ANY

Hello,

I too am trying to get a DS90UB954-Q1 EVM linked to a DS90UB953-Q! EVM working.  I am following the instructions in SNLU224-September 2017, the DS90UB654-Q1EVM User's Guide.  I am stuck at step 8 of page 6 of the guide.  I have searched these forums and found the following treads but none have moved me forward.

I have the DS90UB653/4 files in the Analog LaunchPAD v1.57.0010/Profiles folder of my install of ALP but I cannot find p[P954_A0_RX0_CSI_Enable.py or ovt_1920_1080_REMOTE.py.  Also I do not get Pass Sts or Linked showing any data in ALP.  In fact the device in ALP show Unknown Deserializer i the information tab of ALP.  Here is a screen shot of what I get:

What should I do to get ALP to properly see my 954 and linked 953 board?

  • Eric,

Are you having both 954 and 953 EVMs connected to ALP? Just to make sure you have not selected 954EVM with 953 profile, remove USB cable connection to 953 and have only 954 connected to ALP. Make sure profile selected is DS90UB954.

Also, check 954EVM is powered at J1/J3 with external 12V supply. Connect 953EVM to RX0 port of 954 using Dacar/Fakra coax cable. Assuming you have left the jumpers default (Fig 4 of 954EVM UG), 953EVM should be powered by 954 and you should see green led on 953EVM.

You don't need to run any scripts for getting 954/953 linked. Please check and get back to us.

    Thanks,
    Vishy
  • Vishy,

Thanks I just got your reply and tried it.  I now see the 953 powered and linked by the 954 board.  Not connecting the USB of the 953 board was the key.  I then followed the instructions of the 954 user's guide, SNLO223-August 2017.

Our goal is to connect the 954 with the 953 and the attached DS90UB953-DC1 camera board to our Oxbow Hill EVK via the CSI interface on the 954 board.  With the SERDES running as it is now I do not see what I would expect to indicate that the camera board is streaming video.  Why do I not see non-zero values for horizontal and vertical in the green circled area below?

  • Eric,

You need to run a script that initializes the image sensor (ovt10640) in order to see Horizontal/Vertical info. The first link you posted in your top message has a generic image sensor initialization script. We are in the process of posting an update to ALP (you will see it on TI.com in about a week) and that update would include a sample OVT10640 initialization script referred in the EVM UG.

    Thanks,
    Vishy

  • Eric,

"ALP Profile Update" software is available for download now at www.ti.com/tool/ALP

Please download the zip file and extract/run the "exe" file. It should update your ALP installation with latest profiles and scripts. Quit and restart ALP GUI. From script tab of ALP run the
"ovt_1280_1080_30fps_REMOTE_RevE2_ID7a.py" script from the following folder
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Texas Instruments\Analog LaunchPAD v1.57.0010\PreDefScripts\DS90UB954

Now you should see the horizontal/vertical info correctly. Let me know if you run into issues.
    Thanks,
    Vishy
  • I downloaded the above.  Then I used the USB2ANY/Aardvark Setup to remove the DS90UB954 and then add it again to get the new DS90UB954 profile from the downloaded package.  I had tried running the script "ovt_1280_1080_30fps_REMOTE_RevE2_ID7a.py" without redoing the profile and it crashed ALP each time I tried.  Then I used the Run PreDef Script button on the scripting tab and I got the following output in the Information tab showing 1080p resolution.
