P82B96 Leakage

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: P82B96

When interfacing I2C between two different logic levels (3.3V -> 2.5V) with the P82B96:

1. Is there any leakage from the 3.3V side to the 2.5V side? (via the I/O pins - the 2.5V Vcc may be on or off) - similar to figure 15 of the datasheet.

2. Can the device tolerate voltage on the I/O pins even when it is powered-down?

  • Hello Steve,

    1) I am not aware of any leakage. I looked through the schematics and could not find a leakage path.

    2) Again, I do not see any reason it could not. The absolute value specs in the datasheet also don't seem to suggest any ESD/back powering diode on the pins, and in the schematics I can't find any either. Looks like this is ok.
