LM8330 Latchup

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM8330, TPS62050

Hi Team,

I have a customer who is using the LM8330 and they are seeing what they describe as latchup behavior. The problem is not always repeatable.

When in this condition, the part does not respond to any I2C communication, it does not respond to a RST toggle, the only way to restore it to working order is a power cycle. Their product is battery powered so this is not really a solution.

They have a hunch that it may be related to the input voltage possibly exceeding the abs max, since they are powering the LM8330 with a TPS62050 set at 1.8V, which they note is not terribly far off from the abs max 2.2V.

I am working to find them a tighter tolerance power supply or voltage supervisor part to use, but I wanted to check with you guys to see if you think we are headed down the right path.

Thanks,

Brian
