TCA9617B: Use for 1-Wire BUS

Part Number: TCA9617B

Hello,

I would use the IC for a 1-Wire BUS. I have the same configuration like on page 15 figure 13. Instead of I2C, I would have one 1-Wire. I would use the line SDAA and SCLA has no function. I think, I have a maximum speed of 1MHz.

1. Do you see any problems or have an alternative ideas?

2. In the datasheet on page 9: The SCL and SDA lines shall be at high-impedance when either one of the supplies is powered off.

This means, I get a problem, if VCCA has 0V, but the VCC at the pull up resistor has already 5V. Is it correct?

Thank you and best regards,

Dirk Seidel

  • Hello Dirk,
    1. I would probably have the unused SCL pins tied to Vcc through a resistor. You don't want the pins floating because they are considered inputs. You could have excessive current draw due to shoot-through currents.

    2. This means that when either Vcca or Vccb is at 0V the part is held in reset and all the pins are in a high-z state.
