TCA6408A: TCA6408A

Part Number: TCA6408A
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TCA6408

I am looking to replace a TCA7408 IC with another one most similar to it. Reason being the TCA7408 footprint is a bit too small for the manufacturers that we use and the layout engineer suggested I find a replacement.

I saw the TCA6408A and it looked like a good replacement. However, I am not very familiar with these parts so I would appreciate someone who is to break down some of the differences.

I am planning to use the part as a board revision/id detector, so all 8 GPIO will be inputs always. The GPIO need to be +1.8V and the I2C bus +3.3V. Preferably, the internal registers for communicating with the device also are as similar as possible so the software people don't have to do much changes in their code.

Thanks,

Vinny
