Hi ,

Vengadesh here from avnet . One of my customer has been using NSC DP83848CVV (   commerical temperature  ) part for thier products with LP2378 processor .   Now they want to replace with industrial temperature . we had suggested the DP83848IVV. They have replaced with DP83848IVV but communication is not working ? what could be reason  ?

MAC we have update based on DP83848IVV ?

Please advice ASAP.

    Hello Vengat,

The DP83849CVV and DP83849IVV are pin for pin compatible. There should not be an issue using the DP83849IVV.

Can your customer provide any additional information (example schematics) that we could review?

    Thanks,

    John

I will try to get the schematic if the problem is still persist  .

    Regards/

    Hello Vengat,

The DP83848CVV is also pin compatible with the DP83848IVV.

    Thanks,

    John

    Hi Vengat,

Section 3.8 of the TLK110 data sheet provides a very good description of the function of pin 21 (SW_STRAPN).

On the DP83848C/I  devices pins 20 and 21 are reserved and should be pull to 3.3V through 2.2K Ohm resistors.

On the TLK 110 if pin 21 is pulled to 3.3V through a 2.2K Ohm resistor the software strapping function is disabled.

    Pin 6 on the DP83848C/I provides TXD_3 and SNI_MODE , pin 6 on the TLK110 only provides TXD_3.

All other pins on the DP83848C/I and the TLK110 match.

    Thanks,

    John
