Customers are using SN75179B. But they don't find the maximum data rate in datasheet. So what's the maximum data rate of SN75179B?
The maximum data rate can be calculated from the output transition time. The rule of thumb is that 30% of the 'bit time' can be composed of transition (rise or fall), and 70% has to be settled. The maximum output transition time is listed as 30ns, which would make the minimum bit time 100ns long. This corresponds to 10Mbps.
That being said, the max data rate is highly dependent on the system. The transition time in the data sheet was measured with 50pF of output capacitance. If they are using a long cable that has more capacitance, they won't be able to achieve 10Mbps.

10Mbps is the recommend maximum data rate. It is important to terminate the end of the cable to match the transmission cable impedance, typically 100 ohms. This minimises reflections that distort the received signal.
