What is Reverse MII in Ethernet interface

I know MII and Reduced MII.But what exactly is reverse MII.

Hi,

reverse MII is the name for a reverse loop of data. you might either refer to the MII loopback which loops back data received on the MII tx data (data which originated at the MAC) to the MII rx data. or you might have referred to the far end reverse loopback which enables the PHY to loopback DATA received on the RJ45 RX pair to the RJ45 (RJ45 is connected to the line, the copper wire medium) TX pair. you can find more information on TLK110 data sheet on chapter 3.10 Loopback functionality. http://www.ti.com/product/tlk110

Aviad, Thanks. That was helpful. So, Rev MII is basically just loopback.

Is there more material on this, something which shows actual hardware connections etc.

Hello Hithesh,

apart from the MII loopback which is part of the IEEE Std 802.3

the loopbacks are vendor specific.
