Power Consumption of SN65LBC179QDR

Hi!

Our customer will use SN65LBC179QDR device.

But Our customer have question of power consumption.

If see datasheet, it mentioned Icc=5mA.(No Load)

If use VCC=5V, Power consumption is 25mW(5V*5mA)

If see datasheet, it mentioned as below.

Please explain to total power consumption and above table.

    The Dissipation Rating Table shows the maximum allowable power dissipation for the D and P packages without causing thermal damage to the package or part.  The Derating Factor allows you to calculate the maximum dissipation rating for any ambient temperature.

    For the SN65LBC179, total power dissipation consists of two parts:

    • Quiescent power, which is the quiescent current times the operating voltage with no load
    • Output power, which is the power dissipated by the driver when driving a load
