[SN65HVD74] Actual value of ESD tolerance

The ESD values are shown on page 6 of the datasheet.  Additionally, the bus terminals have standoff voltages of -13V to +16V, as shown on page 6 and 18.

Which particular ESD spec are you interested in (HBM, IEC ESD/EFT?) and what value would you like to meet?

Note that the SN65HVD1474 is pin-compatible with the SN65HVD74, and has higher ESD protection.

ESD spec is IEC ISD.

I didn't know SN65HVD1474.

The SN65LBC184 has integrated protection against IEC 61000-4-2 transients up to 30kV.

The next highest level of integrated protection available is 16kV, such as the SN65HVD1474 that I mentioned earlier in this thread.

Are you interested in full-duplex or half-duplex transceivers?

So they can't use the SN65LBC184.

I hope the actual value of ESD tolerance for SN65HVD74.

The SN65HVD74 is rated for 12kV IEC ESD.  The SN65HVD1474 is rated for 16kV IEC ESD.  Exposure to any transients larger than this will risk damaging the device.

Protection against higher-energy transients will require the use of external protection components.  I recommend this application note from Bourns on external protection in RS-485 applications.

Could you tell me that which ESD tolerance is higher in A/B terminal and Y/Z terminal?

 My customer hopes it.

The A, B, Y, and Z terminals have equivalent ESD ratings, per the Handling Ratings section in the datasheets of the SN65HVD74 and SN65HVD1474.
