Inquiry regarding case temperature on SN75176BPS

Hello, all

Now we have one inquiry regarding case temperature on SN75176BPS from our customer.

Please refer to the item below, and feedback us with your comment.

Now we are evaluating this device on our system, then would like to clarify whether our measurement result of case temperature of this device is suit or not.

However, we could not find out any information of Junction-to-Case (θjc) or case temperature on the datasheet.

Please let us ask you to disclose either of these items.

We thank you in advance for your information.

Best regards,

  • Atsushi-san,

I have requested a model. Is the purpose of the case measurement to determine the internal die temperature in the application?

  • Ron-san,

Thank you for your prompt reply.

    With regard to your question, please refer to their feedback as below;

We assume that the definition of Tc is determined by internal die temperature. If so, we are going to determine die temperature.

If you could disclose only θjc information, we are going to calculate Tj with measured case temperature and power consumption, then going to verify whether the result is within the Tj regulation (Max 150 degree minus margin). On this case, we are going to determine die temperature.

We prefer to have Tc information, since it is difficult to measure actual power consumption of this device.

We are looking forward to hearing from you by return.

We thank you once again for your information.

    Best regards,

  • Atsushi-san,

Normally the models come back quickly. However, the model is not complete. I will check into the reason for the delay.

  • Atsushi-san,

Result-Theta JC, top (standard datasheet value) 70.2 C/W
    Result-Theta JB (standard datasheet value) 56.9 C/W
Result- Psi JT (standard datasheet value) 21.2 C/W
Result- Psi JB (standard datasheet value) 56.2 C/W

Here are the case thermal resistances. Psi is useful for determining Tj while measuring case temperature.
