Inquiry regarding datasheet characteristics on AM26C32

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AM26C32, AM26LS32AC, AM26C31

Hello, all

Now we have one inquiry regarding datasheet characteristics on AM26C32 from our customer.

Please refer to the item below, and feedback us with your comment.

We have been used AM26LS32ACNSR on our previous model, but on new model we need to use AM26C32INSR since this is only pin compatible part which has industrial grade operating temperature range.

However, we could not find out any graphs of typical characteristics on the datasheet of AM26C32.

Please let us ask you to disclose them in order to compare with AM26LS32AC.

We thank you in advance for your information.

Best regards,

  • Atsushi-san,

I have no data for AM26C32.

When is data needed and what is the expected volume to set the job priority correctly?
    Is there a specific concern?

  • Ron-san,

Thank you for your reply on the inquiry regarding AM26C32 from our customer.

The application is industrial temperature control unit, the volume is expected as 5k/year.

(Please let me communicate with you directly by e-mail for further customer's information.)

They are considering to use AM26C32IPWR and AM26C31IPWR for this application.

    With regard to their specific concerning, please see the comment as below;

When connecting 0.1uF capacitor for noise robustness on  1Y to 4Y pins of AM26C32IPWR and 1A to 4A pins of AM26C31IPWR, there found the signal delay on each communication line.

Please let us clarify how much maximum capacitance could these devices handle. Also, please let us clarify about the output impedance of AM26C32IPWR.

We thank you once again for your information.

    Best regards,

  • Atsushi-san,

I will test output impedance for AM26C32 early next week.

  • Atsushi-san,

ROUT high state (VOH) impedance was 30 ohms.

ROUT low state (VOL) impedance was 20 ohms.

I don't recommend adding a capacitor to ROUT pin to help with noise.

  • Ron-san,

Thank you for your sending output impedance of AM26C32.

Please let us clarify whether we could add 0.1 to 0.2 uF capacitor in front of 1A to 4A pins of AM26C31 for same purpose (adding noise filter for input side).

We thank you once again for your information.

    Best regards,

  • Atsushi-san,

1A to 4A pins of AM26C31 are logic signals, they should not be adversely affected by external noise. No not add capacitance.
What is causing the interest on noise rejection? RS422 and RS485 have a good noise rejection by design with any extra components.

Using a shielded cable will help but the cable shield should be connected to ground at one end of the cable, preferable the receiver end.
