SN65HVD265 with SN65HVD255DEVM

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SN65HVD265, SN65HVD255

Hello,

Can I use SN65HVD265 with SN65HVD255DEVM?
Since there is no EVM of SN65HVD265(data rate 2Mbps) , our customer would replace the device from SN65HVD255 to SN65HVD265.
If we can use,  are there any the external components which should we change from SN65HVD255DEVM for SN65HVD265?

And are there any roadmap of Automotive qualified CAN-FD device?

Our customer would like to evaluate the CAN-FD(2Mbps is necessary) for Automotive.
Since there is no 2Mbps CAN-FD device which is Automotive qualified, I introduce the SN65HVD265.
And our customer accepted the SN65HVD265 for development of basic CAN-FD technologies.
However , they need the automotive qualified device until their MP.

  • Hi Ryuji,

The SN65HVD265 can be used on the SN65HVD255DEVM. None of the external components need to be changed, it will work as it.

We will be releasing an automotive qualified (Q1) FD CAN transceiver in the early part of 2016, the part is in design now.
  • Hello Michael san,

Thank you for the reply. I understood that we an use SN65HVD265 on the SN65HVD255DEVM with same external components.
Could you please let me know the maximum datarate which SN65HVD255DEVM can be used on same external components?

Currently ,our customer use SN65HVD265 with datarate of 2Mbps.
However, they will review the CAN-FD with higher Datarate than 2Mbps datarate in future.

    Best Regards,
    Ryuji Asaka

  • Hi Ryuji,

The components that are installed by default on the SN65HVD255EVM will support operation up to and beyond 1MHz (2 Mbps). By default the the common mode choke and TVS diodes, transient protection devices, are not installed. The only external components present are resistors R8, R9, R11, R12, R14, and R16. The customer can size the rest of the external components as they see fit for their application.
