Digital Isolator for USART 10cm wire

hi,

i have a ground and signal issues of my motor application. my motor and control unit has 10cm apart with common ground, 200v, usart, and 20v wires connected, both uart wire has many noise injected or it might caused by motor side's ground noise, therefore i would like to use digital isolator such as ISO722x to isolate both side, but the point is my ground is common and it is 10cm apart (i couldn't add more wires, so ground has to be common).

your help in this matter is appreciated.

  • Hi Chen,
If the ground bounce from Motor is the real reason for the noise in the UART lines then I don't think there is way to use isolator without separating the grounds. Can you please share some wave forms of the UART lines along with the 20V,100V,GND lines so that we can see if there is any correlation that can be used to isolate. also what kind of wire are you using to cover the 10cm distance .
