The setup time for Standby mode of SN65HVDA1040A-Q1

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SN65HVDA1040A-Q1

I would like to confirm the time needed to set up for Standby mode of SN65HVDA1040A-Q1.

I think the flow set up standby mode is;

1. STB pin: Low --> High

2. Mode change: normal --> standby (including the time for the change of the state; CAN bus pin: GND pull down, SPLIT pin: floating)

In this case, does it need the time (1+2 (change STB pin ( over the threshold for High + complete Mode change)) ?

We don't need the guarantee for it and we need the time for the worst case.

Best regards,

  • Hi Atsushi,

    I am going to make this measurement in the lab to get an idea of the timing for going to sleep and waking up the device. I will follow up with you here when I have the data.

  • Hi Atsushi Yamauchi,

    We made a measurement for your question to figure out the times. The test was done at room temperature.

    If you enter the standbymode by pulling the STB pin high, it takes about 20ns to disable the driver. After that, can_l and can_h drift together with the characteristic RC behaviour.

    About 800ns after the STB pin was pulled high, the receiver pulles the RXD pin high and enables the standbymode. You should consider a margin on that time, but that is the switching times you can expect.

    Best regards
