Capacitor on LIN line

Hello,

I have seen in many application schematic of LIN chipset that on LIN line there is 220 pF capacitance.

Why?

Also What should be the rating of this capacitor?

I have seen people using 220pF/ 200V also some are using 220pF/50V.

Nobody has givien justification.

Can anybody support on these topic?

  • Hi Abhishek,

This capacitor helps to filter out high-frequency noise that might otherwise interfere with the LIN communication. The voltage rating of the capacitor should just be chosen based on the maximum voltage that is expected to occur on the LIN bus (either during normal operation or during fault conditions like a short to the battery voltage).

Please let me know if you have any other questions.

    Regards,
    Max
