digital isolator, performance at low frequency signals

Hello,

We consider applying a ti digital isolator like ISO742x.
We apply a 100kHz PWM signal with wide varying duty range. T=10us, ton 50ns ... 9950ns.
The functional block diagrams shows separate signal paths for f=DC...100kHz and for , f>100kHz.
When duration between two consecutive transient exceeds a certain time limit the multiplexers switches to the LF signal path.
Question1: What is this time limit? I guess ~5us but is not not listed in the datasheet.
Question1: Is operation stable when the applied signal is around this 100kHz? I am concerned the multiplexer might toggle with f=100kHz, duty=50%.
Question 3: Do the listed switching characteristics still apply for signals f<100kHz. For instance is t_prop still low when f=90kHz?

  • Maikel,
The block diagram is for representation only. There is no physical mux in the design. There will be no glitch as you were expecting at any frequency DC to rated. Also as soon as a transient happens it is reflected with same prop delay across the barrier .There is also no impact on the prop delay with respect to the data rate.
