Compatibility of TL16C752D and TL16C752B regarding register mapping

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TL16C752D

Dear support team,

Since TL16C752B is EOL, our customer is studying to replace it to TL16C752D.
I have gotten some questions regarding TL16C752D from the customer.
I have seen the following thread as reference.

  e2e.ti.com/.../1962030
  e2e.ti.com/.../542016

Is TL16C752D upper compatible with TL16C752B?
If the customer replace the TL16C752B to TL16C752D, is the control software and register value of TL16C752B able to use for TL16C752D?
And is it possible to the same or similar operation?

Register mapping looks different between the TL16C752B and TL16C752D.
For example, register of FIFORdy is different; Table 8. of TL16C752B datasheet and Table 7. of TL16C752D.
If the customer needs to modify the control software, please teach us the points should be noted and changes.

Best regards,
M. Tachibana

  • Hi Masanori

    - Yes, they are. They also are pin compatible. The main differences between them are regarding to the Alternate Function Register (AFR) as you saw in the other posts. For know more about this, please, check from page 38 in ahead.
    - Yes, Is possible the same operation.
    - Sorry for that, we have some typos in our new datasheet that we will fix as soon as possible, but both registers are the same.
To confirm this, please, check page 38 table 19 in D version and Table 20 in B version.

Please, let me know if you have any other question.

    Regards
    Francisco
