I am looking for a CAN transceiver to use in conjunction with the NovAtel OEM628. On page 157 of the OEM628 manual it gives the schematic of a typical CAN transceiver board. Would I be able to use the SN65HVD255D evaluation module for this purpose? Thank you

Hi Sean,

Yes, the SN65HVD255DEVM board could be used - it is very similar to the schematic shown in Figure 82 of the NovAtel manual.

The board is 3 inches by 1.75 inches.

Hi Sean,

Since the NovAtel OEM628 users guide call out the SN65HVD231, which is a 3.3V transceiver, you want to look at the TCAN330 EVM rather than the SN65HVD255 EVM. If you require 3.3V IO levels than the TCAN330 EVM will give you this by default. The SN65HVD255 EVM has a 5V transceiver installed so you will have to change the IC out before using it for 3.3V IOs.
