My customer asked us about VOH/VOL of SN751178.

At the output of the Receiver circuit,
What is the certified value of Voh / Vol at current (3 mA, 5 mA, 10 mA, 16 mA, 20 mA)?

(Because、when they use this device, there is a possibility that the current may flow by 5 to 20 mA.）

Hello Yoshiki,

There will be no way to guarantee a specification for the Voh and Vol at these currents, but this can be tested for a couple of devices and typical data can be provided. Please allow a few days for data collection to give a typical value. Samples will need to be ordered. I also apologize for any delays that may be caused by the holiday season in the US.

Yoshiki-san,

This load is not recommended nevertheless it should work fine.

VOL does have specifications for IOL up to 16mA. 20mA is not far beyond that.

VOH is driven by a Darlington NPN driver. So a automatic V-loss near 1.4V is expected.

After that low output impedance is expected. Eventually the 85 ohm resistor will limit current.

Collector voltage at 20mA should be about VCC - 85 ohm * 20mA = 3.3V

Output voltage will be about 2.5V

→I understood that this is no problem.
　 Is it right?
2. VOH

→The specification of IOH is -400 μA MAX.
　 Which current value is the above 20 mA?
　Is this an IOL?

As a result, is it no problem to flow 5-20 mA?
