TL16C752B: Replacement

Hello Team,

The TL16C752B is marked as "Lifebuy".

I think the pin compatible Enhanced version, TL16C752B-EP can be a replacement.

Just wanted to make sure that the EP version can be used as a replacement without any SW changes.

The EP version will be identical to commercial version with respect to functionality and programming.
We have a large die-bank, and will continue to support this device.

Mizanur,

In addition to TL16C752B-EP, there is another version of the device called TL16C752D that could be used if needed. It is pin-for-pin compatible with the existing TL16C752B and would also not require software changes. (An additional register has been added, but it optional and only provides additional functionality.)

Hello Max,

I saw your post that the TL16C752D is a replacement of the TL16C752B-EP. I purchased the TL16C752C and had problems. While looking at the datasheet I couldn't determine why. Is there any specific reason to use TL16C752D and not TL16C752C?

Hello Francisco,

We have being using the TL16C752BTP in our product in more than 10,000 units without any problems. The TL16C752BTP is marked as obsolete and we thought that the TL16C752CPFB was a direct replacement but is not. After examining the datasheets it looks the same.
The problem is that the TL16C752CPFB transmits data correctly through it's Tx line but seems not to receive correctly. We are using 115,000 Baud rate and 18.432 MHZ clock.

Also we noted that there is a TL16C752D version but we need to know what is the difference between all of them, since we need to purchase 250 pieces and we already lost the money with the TL16C752CPFB since the vendor marked it as NRCR.

Thank you for your feedback, I am guessing that you have reprogrammed with exactly same sequence than version B, isn't?
Which prescaler do you use? Can you share the value of the DLL and DLH? When you changed the device, did you change it in a socket or did you solder the device?
The version B, C and D are pin to pin compatible, the main difference between B and the other two versions are the alternate modes, so if you are working with the other modes, you won't have any problem.
In which mode are you working?
What is the voltage level that are you using?
What is the amplitude of the clock signal? are you using a crystal, crystal oscillator or signal generator?

Please, let me know the answer of those questions, mainly the physical part.
