SN65HVD1176: Differential output voltage

Part Number: SN65HVD1176
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SN65HVD50, SN65HVD05, PROFIBUS

Does TI have a driver with a higher minimum Differential Output Voltage than the SN65HVD1176?  Something like 2.4V – 3V into 54 Ohms?

The data rate isn’t as important. 10Mbps should be fine as customer is running it at 3.125Mbps.

SN65HVD1176 suggested for review and received question about differential output voltage

  • Carl,

If it has to be 54Ohm load, SN65HVD1176 is a good choice of RS485 transceiver for high output. In the same test condition, it's 200mV less than ISL4486IBZ-T (2.1V vs. 2.3V). If it's 100Ohm like RS422 load, you can take a look at SN65HVD50 (www.ti.com/.../sn65hvd50.pdf), which has 2.4V Vod and very close to the spec of ISL4486IBZ-T (2.5V). We also offer the SN65HVD05(http://www.ti.com/lit/gpn/sn65hvd05), high output drive devices (HVD06 and HVD07 at lower data rates) that are not Profibus devices but offer a minimum 2.5V drive across 54Ohms. Please let me know if you have futher question.
