ULN2003A: Absolute Maximum Rating of TA

Part Number: ULN2003A

ULN2003A absolute maximum rating of TA is -20 degC to 70 degC. And Recommended Operating condition Tj is -40 degC to 125 degC.

Should we use ULN2003A within TA -20 degC to 70 degC even if device power consumption is low and Tj is not over 125 degC?

Using condition is the following,
1ch to 4ch: 7mA at each ch
6ch: 120mA
5ch, 7ch: not used

  • Hello Sasaki-san,

You need to ensure that the ambient temperature for the device is within the range specified.
The device junction itself is allowed to heat beyond the ambient temperature based on power consumption.
If the ambient temperature is 70C, the device should be fine to consume power as long as the junction doesn't heat beyond 125C.

With the setup that you described, you should have no concerns with the device.
If you would like to have a higher ambient temperature allowed, then you could consider the ULN2003AI device which has an ambient temperature range of -40C to 105C.

I hope this helps. Let me know if you have additional questions.

    Best,
    Michael
