SN65HVS882: Load requirement for RE0-RE7 outputs

I am trying to support an old design that uses the chip. The RE outputs are left open. Is this OK? I notice in the datasheets that these are tied to an LED to ground.

Hi Jack,

Yes, the REx pins need to be tied to ground directly or through an LED/resistor because this is part of an internal current mirror circuit which helps sets the voltage for your thresholds.

The circuit I'm dealing with came from a TI reference design. It's on the AM335X ICE board. That's why I'm surprised at the requirement.
