SN65HVD62: SN65HVD62 design in physical link.

Part Number: SN65HVD62

Dear Sirs,

My customer asked us about  DC power line of SN65HVD62

System architecture assumes that External Battery Backup Unit is connected to main system with only power supply cable which also serves as communication media. Data is sent over it with On/Off Keying modulation scheme (OOK) in half-duplex mode.

SN65HVD62 Is it possible to meet the physical link definition requirements? .
Both interfaces are asynchronous serial link with following characteristic:
• Link speed: 9600 Baud
• Data configuration: 8-bit, no parity, 1 stop bit
• Signaling: NRZ (mark=high)

Modulation scheme: On/Off Keying (OOK) on 2.6MHz carrier, ON=logical zero

Or TI have others solution can meet on / off keying application?

Best Regards,

Milk.Wang

  • Hi Milk,

HVD62 can meet most of these requirements, although it is designed to use a carrier frequency of 2.176 MHz rather than 2.6 MHz in accordance with the AISG standard; frequencies away from this are attenuated by the device's internal bandpass filter. Is this OK for your application? I'm unfortunately not aware of any other OOK modem devices from TI, although it is also possible to implement this function using multiple RF components (modulators, etc.).

    Regards,
    Max
