Hi Expert.

My customer request for RS-485 products which have both "Bus fault protection : ±60V" and "Surge current : 6A" .

Does SN65HVD1785 or other products have surge protection over 6A?

There is no problem with the capability value of the device.

Takakura-san,

HVD1785 is the device with good bus fault protection, but SN65LBC184 is the device with good surge protection, which has 15V fault protection. LBC184 can tolerate up to 400W peak surge transients. If the clamp voltage is around 35V, the device can take about 11A peak current. Please let me know if you have other questions.

15V fault voltage does not meet customer requirement.
There is no product which have both "Bus fault protection : ±60V" and "Surge current : 6A" ?

Unfortunately, if >60V default voltage is a must, HVD1785 is the only choice here. What's the definition of 6A surge current? The EOS transient can be quite different from case to case due to different variables, like duration, peak, serial resistance. Therefore the device might be able to handle it.

But my customer requires TVS unnecessary products.
Therefore, there seems to be no product suitable for the request.
