TCAN1042-Q1: CAN Bus Impedance in Standby Mode

Part Number: TCAN1042-Q1

Hello,

I understand that CAN bus pins (CANH/CANL) will be pulled down to GND while the TCAN1042-Q1 is in standby mode, but how strong/weak will it be? It's very grateful if any data on the pulling-down strength including its variation (over temperatures, part-to-part) is available for us.

Best regards,
Shinichi Yokota

  • Hello Yokota-san,

The same input resistances that are used to weakly bias the recessive levels during normal operational mode are connected to ground in standby mode in order to conserve power (see Figure 14 in the current datasheet). So, you can reference the RIN specification on page 10 of the datasheet. It says that the minimum input resistance for CANH or CANL is 15 kOhm and the maximum is 40 kOhm. The resistances are typically 25 kOhm.

Please let me know if you have further questions.

    Regards,
    Max
