TCAN1051H-Q1: Check availability on 48V systems

Part Number: TCAN1051H-Q1

Hello

Our customers are developing a 48V (mild hybrid) system and looking for a CAN transceiver that can be applied to a 48V system.

We proposed TCAN1051H-Q1. For TCAN1051H-Q1, I think that V bus protection voltage is applicable to 48V system with + -70V, is it possible?

Is there any standard value of bus protection voltage of CAN Transceiver of 48V system?

Thank you for your advice.

  • Hi Yoo,

The TCAN1051H-Q1 is the correct device to recommend for these applications. The ±70V bus fault protection is the highest in the market and targeted at these HV applications.

The rule of thumb that we have seen in the past from OEMs is 2x the battery voltage margin on the global pins (pins that leave the module) for CAN applications but there are no devices today in the market that support ±96V bus fault as this is a very tough goal to meet.

Please let me know what other questions you have?
