DS32ELX0124: DS32ELX Family Questions

Part Number: DS32ELX0124

Hi,

I have a customer asking some questions about the DS32ELX family:

  1. What is the maximum number of daisy chain connections (ELX model with the re-timing function)?
  2. Is it possible to use GPIO 0-2 to control display on/off, display status and display brightness?
  3. How do they get unique address and what are the limitations?
  4. Jitter in daisy chain of ~60 RX

Can you please support us here?

Thanks

  • Hi,

We are looking into your questions. What is the end application from your customer? What are the FPGAs on both driver/receiver sides?

  • Hi,
The application is signage application for transportation such as trains, busses..
  • Hi,

Please see the answers inline. To better assist you, can you send us the system block diagram? What data rate are you running at? Have you considered to use DS25CP104 to reduce the number of cascaded hops?

    1) Unfortunately, I do not have any data about the maximum number of deserializers we can support. I would say 16 hops is max because there is another device (SDI reclocker) can do max 16 hops.
There is ultimately going to be a limit the maximum number of deserializers, because there will be jitter peaking from the PLL of each CDR circuit, which will then accumulate in each redundant signal as it passes through more and more DS32ELX0124 deserializers.
    2) No, GPIO pins are commonly used to program multiple deserializers.
    3) Thru SMBus
    4) Unfortunately, we don’t have this jitter data for ~60 DS32ELX0124.

    Thanks,
    Dennis
